The Home Hub is BT’s Internet router.
If you get your home Internet from BT, they will provide you with a BT Home Hub, and you use this to connect to the Internet.
There have been several versions of the Home Hub. The current version, v2.0, is pictured below. The telephone handset is optional.
What does a Home Hub do?
It plugs into your BT line and lets you connect devices to the Internet, either with wires, or using wireless wi-fi
It can be used to connect laptops, games consoles, digital TV boxes (like BT Vision) to the Internet
How do I use a Home Hub?
First, you need to have a BT-enabled phone line (i.e. be a BT Broadband customer)
Next, you need to have a micro-filter plugged into your phone line. Micro-filters (pictured below)are provided with the Home Hub
Then, you need to connect from the Home Hub Broadband socket to the ADSL socket on the micro-filter (using the supplied wire)
Then, you can connect your computer, games console or TV box into one of the Ethernet sockets on thr Home Hub to get Internet access
Here’s a photo of the sockets on the back of the Hub
