Question:
I am currently with Sky and obviously have a dish. If I cancel Sky, will it automatically swap to Freesat? If not, what do I need to do to watch without a subscription?

Our Answer
If you stop your subscription to Sky, then you will find you can no longer watch any of the subscription channels. You’ll still be able to watch the 200 or so free-to-air channels using your existing Sky box.
You don’t need to do anything to get these channels, the free channels will just be there.
For a list of the free-to-air channels you’ll be able to get on a Sky box without subscription, go here: Sky Free-to-air channels
Some things to note:
If you have a Sky+ or Sky+ HD box and cancel your subscription, you will no longer be able to use any of the recording features of your Sky+ box. You’ll also not be able to play back any recordings from Sky+ once you cancel. If you want to keep using the recording facilities, you’ll either need to subscribe to a Sky package, or take out a Sky+ Subscription. Sky+ is free to anyone who subscribes to a Sky service.
