We get asked this question surprisingly often, and the answer depends on what question you’re really asking…
Here’s one question, sent in by a visitor:
Q. “I have Sky at present, and my aerial is not the best. Can I attach my Sky dish to the BT Vision+ box instead of a normal aerial?”
- The answer to this one, is no. BT Vision gets live TV via Freeview. Freeview is received via a TV aerial, not a satellite dish. You can’t plug a satellite dish into a BT Vision box – they’re different technologies.
Q. “I have Sky, and I also want to get BT Vision. Will they interfere with each other?”
- Yes, you can have Sky and BT Vision at the same time. ONe uses satellite and one uses a TV aerial, and the two services shouldn’t clash with each other.
I currently have Sky TV and broadband, I’m soon having bt (youview) TV and broadband fitted. On receipt of the bt equipment I’ve noticed that the connections at the back of the sky & bt box are different. I assume then that you can’t connect the bt box to the sky dish? I have an aerial but it only feeds in to a spare room (not been in this house long). Will I have get the aerial rerouted in to my living room to connect to the back of the bt box? Or is there another way?
