Connecting BT Vision
Does the Vision box connect to the BT hub wirelessly?
Asked online by Mr. Daniel
Our Answer
The BT Vision box has to be connected to three things:
- Your TV set, using either an HDMI lead, or a SCART lead
- A TV aerial suitable for getting Freeview
- The Internet, for the on-demand content.
Connecting BT Vision to the Internet
You need to connect your BT Vision box to the Internet via BT’s router, the BT Home Hub
You can connect in one of two ways:
- Using an Ethernet cable from the back of your Vision box to the Home Hub (ideal if your Hub is in the same room)
- Using the supplied Powerline adapters (which use the house mains wiring to transmit data)
What is a Powerline Adapter?
Powerline Adapters, also known as a HomePlugs, come in pairs, and use a home’s mains wiring to transmit data.
Plug one into a power point close to the Home Hub, and a second into a power point close to the BT Vision box, and the Vision box will be able to get an Internet connection over the mains. A pair of Powerline adapters are supplied by BT when you order BT Vision.
Follow-on Questions:
Do you need to plug BT Vision into a phone line?
Not as such. You need to connect the Vision box to the Home Hub, which is connected to your phone line for broadband, but you don’t have to connect a phone line direct to the BT Vision box, as you do with a Sky box.
